The quartet of bassist Art Echternacht, guitarist/vocalist Chris Streng, guitarist/vocalist Jonathan Hansard, and drummer Ryan Everson were all in musical orbits of sorts in past bands before the stars aligned to bring these four fated rockers together to create the heaviest grooves in their corner of the state. The original trio of Chris, Ryan, and Art fell upon the name Cherry Rats as a slight variation on an anagram of their names, but it’s more than just random luck: the mingling of sweet and sinister are apparent in every raucous, playful tune on their new album, Hungry For Distortion.
